Anyone qualified in Sales & Marketing??!!!

Haven't blogged for ages - so just a quick update to say that we're all doing fine! The usual colds and whatever but in the main, doing well. The first real sun since December came today, so those lovely crisp days with cloudless blue skies spanning over the sea arrive. Wonderful! Still working on the house, could be doing that forever.

If you're the UK person who won £42 million last week, then please, just a few thousand quid would sort it. (After you've tithed it....)

Oh and yes - I'm looking for a Sales & Marketing person, full time salaried for work. If you know of anyone, send me a message!

So - brief and boring - but we're still rockin'!

This diary update is to pay respect to the life of Neil Cooper, a friend of ours who lost his battle with cancer last week. He was a fine man: of honour, integrity and great character. A man who cared for others, who went out of his way to help those around him. A man who loved his family and who practiced his faith in God in every part of his life.

We worked with him in Leadership as well as part of a musician's team at the church. We worked together and worshipped together. He even tried to get me to run in the Great North Run....maybe next year eh!....

We just wanted to express this to whoever reads this blog: that there are some people who, sadly, pass away and fade into obscurity. There are others, who through just being themselves make a lasting impression on your life. Neil was one of those people.

ICC Christmas Party

ICC's Christmas party! About 70 people, 40 blowpipes, plenty of food and alcoholic schloer, a right larf. The only night of the year I wear a tie and cufflinks. Blowpipes? Yup! Blowpipes and paper balls to fire at people all night long. So childish.....

Oh - and large balloons...tied together....which made a screeching noise.

Oh dear.

Liverpool

Today I have been in Birmingham and Liverpool for some meetings. Quite a day to arrive in Liverpool as it was the 25th anniversary of the death of John Lennon. Being a fan of his music and that of the Beatles, it's a good time to be in the city - seeing the images being projected onto the buildings in the dark is quite something.

So - once again, a long time and no news. Well, in a nutshell, I've been making albums with Jonathan Veira and Electralyte whilst developing the concepts and music for next year's Spring Harvest music range. It's a fantastic team at SH who we work with and next year will be a great range (no details - I'll keep you in suspense!) Electralyte are worth watching out for - visit their website at www.electralyte.net amazing music, more in line with mainstream chart rock with lyrics that challenge. They're based in Chelmsford too - so you Essex chaps have something cool on your back doorstep!
Family news is that we're all fine. AJ continues to enjoy school and is playing Joseph at his Christmas nativity. He was asked to be Joseph for the church one as well today so I think we may be onto something. If anyone hears that the Milky Bar kid is making a comeback - let us know - AJ would be ready for it!
Evie is wonderful. What else can we say? The funniest, chirpiest, loudest "nearly 3" year old ever!
Oh and wifey rocks!

Just to update you....all is well in Looseworld! AJ is right back into school and Evie has started at a pre-school. She's loving it and Jan is missing her! Still decorating and hoping to have the bathroom finished in time for Santa. The problem we have is that, take today for example, we could have stayed at home and tidied up etc or gone to the beach at the edge of the South Downs Country Park and watched the surfers and played in the waves. What do you think we did?!!

Hope you like the new blog design. Been trying to find something a little more unique. Still, updating it more often would be a good start!

I get the hint! Back with more ramblings and news from us after a long break. Well, to keep it brief, I've been running the record label whilst the team are away at Detling, Keswick and the World Baptist Congress not to mention New Wine North and South and Grapevine in Lincolnshire! I've just got back from a week at Greenbelt where we exclusively sell all the music and merchandise from all the bands from the newest unknown to the headliners on Stage 1. We ran a shop with retro additions of a mirror ball, groovy disco lights and video projector together with a small stage and DJ booth. All in all a great four days at the greatest Christian Arts Festival in Europe. With the addition of the organic beer tent - things went from strength to strength!

Anyway, we've also managed a week in Cornwall and another great week in the New Forest and lots of day trips out. We have some old friends visitng this weekend so another bbq beckons!

This month I start preparing albums for next years Spring Harvest which is great fun and hugely challenging, as well as recording a new album with Jonathan Veira and pre-production on a new album from our latest signing "Electralyte". They played the gig of the year on Greenbelt's Stage 2 last Sunday, absolutely excellent. I'm glad we're working with them. They come from Chelmsford so I'll leave you locals to work out who it may be.....

We're all well as a family and have enjoyed some excellent beach days - today was awesome as I met them for lunch on the beach from work. You really can't complain....

So - what else would you like to know? AJ and Evie are fine, wifey rocks, we're into watching "Lost" on Channel 4 in a big way. The house is still far from finished, but it is the major project to get sorted before Christmas. We celebrate one year in our new home and job this week - so it's champagne all round and a party for all! We're going out as a record label team to celebrate my first year next week - should have a laugh!

Anyway - will post some fresh piccies later!

As you may know, we at ICC record all the spoken word for New Wine each year. This year - we have an urgent need for some more volunteers to help us record and sell the seminars and music on the stand at New Wine. We provide a free ticket, accomodation (but you can camp as well if you like) together with a financial gift for your time. You will have a right laugh as well as helping us get God's Word out to people. The dates we need help are July 23rd to August 7th. This is two weeks, but you can do one or both if you want. Obviously you get to go to many of the New Wine celebrations etc so it's not all work! You need to be able to work as a team, love the Lord and have a good sense of humour! All ages can apply. Just got back from Scotland - had a couple of meetings over the last few days and it was a pleasure to visit the Scoooootish clans. Went to Wesley Owen bookshop in Glasgow - amazing place - cafe, trendy lights, huge amount of music and books and software etc etc. Met a couple of great people called Doug and Sharon - very helpful they were!

Had a bumpy ride home with BA. Airline food is awful. You pay honest money and get given a small packet of prezels and what I would call a "third of a mini swiss roll" sized tortilla wrap thing. Blink and its gone. I'm a growing lad don't you know. (That will get the comments flowing I expect!!)

Had a coffee in "The Grand" today on Eastbourne seafront. Some posh bloke in a suit offers tea or coffee, then brings HOT milk (for the coffee) and serves it with one hand behind his back. I mean come on....chill out!! Made me nervous.
If you're going to do it one handed, then why don't you go down the circus route completely and serve it whilst cycling on a unicycle and juggling three balls in the other hand. If you're going to make life difficult for yourself, then go the whole hog.

Rant over.

Well, having met with about 25 international distributors, many other industry people, networked with new buddies, worshipped at a concert with MWSmith, Darlene, Newsboys and about50 other music artists, been to various music showcase gigs with Toby Mac, Tait, Point Of Grace, Nicole Mullen, Rachel Lampa, blah blah, and sat in hotel lobbies waiting for people to arrive for meetings, bought an iPod, gone wireless everywhere, got wired on Starbucks (everywhere) it is nearly time to come home.

I am looking forward to getting home! Tis weird being away from the family.

Nashville GMA Week 2005

In Nashville, home to a million waiters who are all hoping to be the next Country and Western star! Also the home of Contemporary Christian Music whic is why I'm here! This week is GMA week, when everyone involved in the Christian CCM industry gets together to make deals, have fun and not get too involved in line-dancing.....

So far so good! Arrived last night, was eating a steak and 3am UK time! Then woke up today at 9am to be confronted on the telly by Charles and Camilla...why the long face?!!!

Today it's registration for GMA and then off to see Steven Curtis Chapman tonight. Cool.
